Aglink (Pty) Ltd ("Aglink", "we", "us") is a South African consultancy registered in the Republic of South Africa, with offices in Baileys Muckleneuk, Pretoria. We are the responsible party (data controller) for the personal information described in this policy.

2. Scope

This policy describes how we handle personal information processed through aglink.co.za, our enquiry forms, our chatbot, our newsletter, and direct correspondence with prospects, clients and suppliers. It is aligned with the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 ("POPIA").

3. What we collect

• Identification & contact: name, employer, work email, phone number — when you complete a form or email us.
• Enquiry context: industry, service interest, project timeline, message content — voluntarily provided in our contact form.
• Technical data: theme preference (stored locally in your browser), referrer, basic device data sent by your browser when you visit the site.

We do not knowingly collect special personal information (medical, biometric, criminal, etc.) and ask that you do not include it in enquiries.

4. Why we process it

• Responding to your enquiry and providing requested information or proposals.
• Delivering services under a contract you have entered into with us.
• Sending occasional industry insights to subscribers who have opted in (you can unsubscribe at any time).
• Meeting our legal, tax and regulatory obligations.

5. Lawful basis

We process your personal information on one or more of the following bases under POPIA:

• Your consent (e.g. a tick-box on our contact form, or subscribing to our newsletter).
• Performance of a contract with you or your organisation.
• Our legitimate business interests (e.g. responding to an unsolicited enquiry you initiated).
• Compliance with a legal obligation.

6. Sharing

We do not sell personal information. We share it only with operators that help us run our business — for example, our email provider (to receive enquiry messages) and our website host. Each operator is bound by a written agreement to process the data only on our instructions and to protect it.

We may disclose information if required by law, by a court order, or to protect our legal rights.

7. Retention

Enquiry messages are retained for 24 months after last contact, then deleted unless you become a client (in which case retention follows the contract and applicable accounting/tax law, typically five years after engagement end).

8. Your rights

Under POPIA you have the right to:

• Ask what personal information we hold about you.
• Have inaccurate information corrected, or have data deleted where we have no lawful reason to keep it.
• Withdraw consent at any time (this does not affect prior lawful processing).
• Object to direct marketing.
• Lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator: inforegulator.org.za.

9. Security

We apply reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal information — encrypted transport (HTTPS), access control, and least-privilege handling. No method of transmission is 100% secure; if you suspect a breach, please tell us immediately.

10. Cookies and local storage

Our site uses no third-party tracking or advertising cookies. We use one piece of localStorage (aglink-theme) to remember your light/dark theme preference. You can clear this from your browser at any time.

We may update this policy as our processing changes or law evolves. The "last updated" date above will reflect the most recent revision.
